Description

The Kelvin Platt Gallery and shop, located in Padstow Market Place, is an art gallery and shop with accommodation above, dating from the early 19th century. It is built of painted stone rubble and features a cement washed slate roof with gable ends and a hipped end at the canted corner. The gallery occupies a corner plot at the junction of Market Place and The Strand, with an entrance in the canted corner flanked by two 19th-century shop fronts. To the left, an alley leads to a small court, while the shop on the right, facing Market Place, has a 20th-century shop front with an entrance on the right.

The building is two storeys high and has a regular window arrangement of 2:1:4, with the entrance in the canted corner. The canted corner features a 20th-century door flanked by two late 19th-century shop fronts. There is an additional shop window and entrance in the alley on the left, along with another 19th-century shop window to the right. The far right has a 20th-century shop front and entrance. The first floor includes a blind window in the canted corner, 19th-century 16-pane sash windows, a sash window with removed glazing bars to the left, a blocked window, and two 20th-century windows to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
