Description
Cornish Candy and the adjoining shop to the north is a building that may have originally been a house, likely divided into two shops with living space above. It dates from around the mid-18th century and has been partly altered in the 19th century and late 20th century. The structure is rendered and painted, probably made from stone rubble, and features a steeply pitched slate roof that is coated in bitumen and has hipped ends.
The building has a double depth plan, which was divided in the 19th century to create two shops on the ground floor, with accommodation above. The right-hand shop has been remodeled in the 20th century.
It stands two storeys tall with an attic and has a regular three-window front. The left side features a late 19th-century shop front, while the right side has a 20th-century shop front. The upper part is rendered and painted above the ground floor, with quoins and a moulded eaves cornice. There are three tall, narrow sash windows without glazing bars. The attic includes a full dormer on the left, which has a casement window and a louvered opening, topped with a flat roof.
