Description
No. 9 Church Street is a shop with a dwelling, likely built in the early to mid 19th century. It features white-painted render and a slate roof, with a double-depth plan. The building is two storeys high and has two bays that are almost symmetrical. The ground floor shop front is framed by narrow panelled pilasters with consoles and a shallow cornice decorated with egg-and-dart motifs. The shop doorway is centrally located, while the domestic doorway is at the right-hand end, both having matching surrounds. This design interrupts a continuous band of small-paned glazing, creating shop windows with 44 panes on the left and 32 panes on the right. On the first floor, there are two 4-pane sashed windows with moulded architraves. The building has chimneys located in front and behind the ridge at the right-hand gable. The rear and interior have not been inspected.
