Description
The Manse is a former manse for the Carharrack Wesleyan Chapel, dating from around 1815, and is now a private dwelling. The building is constructed from uncoursed killas rubble with granite quoins, mostly rendered, and features a scantle slate roof with brick chimneys. It has an L-plan layout, consisting of a single-depth front range with a rear wing to the left; there is a modern addition in the rear angle that is not of special interest.
The Manse is two storeys high and has three symmetrical bays, framed by a plinth, corner pilasters, and an eaves band. The central doorway, which is accessed by three steps, features a pilastered architrave with a cornice on fluted consoles and a recessed door (now plastic) with a shallow overlight. The two windows on the ground floor and three above have raised sills and plain surrounds, and they are now fitted with plastic top-hung casements that imitate 16-pane sashes. The roof is hipped, and there are chimneys on the side walls.
On the left return wall, there is a two-centred arched stair window with altered glazing similar to that at the front. Inside, there is a doglegged open-string staircase with stick balusters and a ramped handrail. The Manse is included for its group value with the Carharrack Methodist Church located to the right.
