Description

No. 52 Wendron Street is a mid-19th century town house located at the end of a row. The ground floor features stucco with a mid-floor band, incised end pilasters with a key pattern, and anthemion heads. It has a granite plinth and rubble walls with granite dressings where the stucco has been removed, while the rest of the building is made of rubble. The roof is hipped and covered with asbestos slate, featuring projecting eaves and brick stacks.

The house is two storeys tall with a symmetrical three-window front. There are segmental brick arches above the original 12-pane hornless sash windows on the first floor, while the ground floor has horned copies of these windows. The central entrance has a 20th-century panelled door with an original arched fanlight above it.

Inside, there is a central hallway with a straight staircase, and the principal rooms each contain a massive granite inglenook fireplace. The rear partition wall of the left-hand room has been removed to provide direct access to the kitchen and utility area. Part of the ground floor rear wall is made from cob. There is also a modern flat-roofed dormer extension on the rear first floor, and at the back of the property, there is a single-storey lean-to constructed from cob.
