Description

This is an early 19th-century town house located on Wendron Street, Helston. It is constructed of elvan ashlar with granite dressings, including a plinth, rusticated quoins on the left-hand side, a quoin strip on the right, rustication to the left of the doorway, a mid-floor string, and shallow segmental arches above the windows. The roof is covered with asbestos slate, and there is a shared brick stack on the left side. A cast-iron ogee gutter runs along the roofline. The house has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with a two-window front. The left-hand side retains original 16-pane hornless sash windows. To the right is a 20th-century replacement of the original bowed oriel window, featuring small panes, above a wide doorway reached by three moulded granite steps. The doorway itself has a four-panel door and a squat overlight. While the interior has not been inspected, it is likely to be of interest.
