Description
No. 11 Wendron Street is a town house with a later shop, likely built in the 17th century and refronted around 1870. The front features incised stucco with a plinth, moulded architraves, and a mid-floor string, topped by a fairly steep asbestos slate roof. The building has a U-shaped plan, including rear wings at right angles, and stands two storeys tall with a three-window range.
The late 19th-century windows are horned sashes, and the shop front includes pilastered canted oriels with moulded aprons and cornices. There is a central window above the pier between the house doorway and the shop entrance on the right, and a window with sill brackets beneath the left-hand oriel. The house doorway is pilastered and features paired brackets under a moulded hood. The shop front has a moulded entablature with a fascia and paired brackets, a recessed doorway on the right, and a 20th-century plate glass two-light shop window with a splayed return light. The interior of the shop has been altered in the 20th century, but remnants of a 17th-century plaster ceiling can be found on the first floor, though it has not been inspected.
