Description
No. 49 on Coinagehall Street is a mid-19th century town house. It features a stucco plinth, architraves, a ground-floor impost string, and a first-floor sill string, although much of the stucco has been removed to reveal rubble, including round arches at the ground floor. The roof is low-pitched, covered with grouted scantle slate and has projecting eaves, with brick end stacks, one of which was rebuilt in the 20th century. The house has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. The windows are mid to late 19th century two-pane hornless sashes, or possibly original sashes with the glazing bars removed. The central doorway features a plain fanlight and a four-panel door. Inside, the entrance hall includes a round arch on consoles, moulded ceiling cornices, and an open-well staircase with a wreathed newel, although the rest of the interior has not been inspected.
