Description
No. 8 and the attached coach house are a town house and coach house built in the early 19th century. The building is constructed from killas rubble with granite dressings on the ground floor, while the first floor features stucco on studwork. The house has a dry slate roof with brick end stacks, and the coach house has a slurried scantle slate roof. The house has a double-depth plan and is set back on the right, with a tapered plan that widens at the rear and a quadrant-on-plan front on the first floor. It is two storeys high and has a two-window range. The coach house has one window at the front and two windows on the return side.
The original windows are hornless sashes with glazing bars. The house features a tripartite ground-floor sash window that is centrally located between the first-floor windows, along with a pilastered doorway that has consoles and a moulded cornice to the left, although the door is from the 20th century. The rear of the house retains original sashes with glazing bars, including a stair sash with a fanlight head. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
