Description

No. 11, Lady Street is a carriage house and stables, later converted into a private house, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The front is constructed of granite ashlar, featuring a plinth, flat arches, and a first-floor sill course, with a slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan and an irregular three-window front. The original first-floor window openings retain their original 16-pane hornless sashes; other windows are later replacements with horns. The ground floor incorporates a former stable doorway on the left, a wide carriage doorway (now fitted with a door and window) to the right, and a window between. The interior has not been inspected. The rear of the building retains original hornless sashes with glazing bars, notably a tall stair window. The original function of the building was likely as a carriage house for Leslie House.
