Description

These garden walls, along with an ice house, are located adjacent to Tanyard Lane and connect to a retaining wall for a garden terrace at No. 4. They likely date from the late 18th century, with some later additions to their height. The walls are constructed of killas rubble, with granite details; the lane-side wall has scantle slate coping. They are tall walls. The retaining wall incorporates granite steps leading down to a lower level, and a doorway giving access to a small, probably used as an ice house, chamber built into the bank. The interior of the ice house features a segmental roof vault.
