Description
The garden retaining wall, located immediately southeast of the Chantry, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of slate rubble and runs alongside the driveway, serving as a retaining wall for the garden that rises steeply on the east side of the house. A rustic quartz table pointed arch gateway provides access to a small cave cut into the sandstone bank above, which may have been used as an icehouse.
