Description

A pair of town houses on Coinagehall Street, Helston, dating from the early 19th century. The houses are constructed of elvan ashlar with a plinth and granite dressings, topped by an asbestos slate roof with brick end stacks. They are arranged with a double-depth plan and feature a central service wing at the rear.

The symmetrical facade has three windows per floor and a 3-window front. Keyed segmental arches sit above small-horned sash windows with glazing bars, particularly evident in the right-hand house (No. 56), which retains original glazing to its central windows. Later in the 19th century, two-pane sash windows were installed on the left-hand side of the front. The front doors are of 6-panel design with squat overlights; the top four panels of the door to No. 54 have been replaced with glazing. The door reveals are flush-panelled. The interior has not been inspected.
