Description
Leskernick is a house that likely dates from the late 18th century and was extended in the early 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble, with the left gable end rendered. The roof is made of rag slate and features gable ends, with stone rubble stacks at each end.
Originally, the house probably had a one-room plan with heating provided by an end stack. It was extended in the early 17th century to include a second room, also heated by an end stack. A service outshut was added across the rear in three phases during the 19th century, and there is a 20th-century outshut on the left end.
The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with two window openings, which are currently boarded. Near the centre, there is a 19th-century lean-to stone rubble porch that features a 20th-century plank door on the right side and a window opening on the front. There are two window openings on the first floor, one on the left and one on the right.
The house is situated in an isolated location within a valley, positioned between the unspoilt Codda Downs and Hendra Downs.
