Description
Dairywell Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century, possibly with earlier origins. It is constructed of stone rubble and features large granite quoins. The roof is made of rag slate with gable ends, and there are stone rubble end stacks with brick shafts. The layout is a double depth plan with a central entrance, consisting of two main rooms at the front heated by end stacks, with a dairy and back kitchen located at the rear. It is possible that the house was originally designed as a single depth plan, with the service buildings at the back being a later addition.
The exterior is two-storeys high and has a symmetrical two-window front. The central entrance is covered by a stone-rubble lean-to porch with a slate roof and features a likely early 20th-century four-panel door. On either side of the entrance are two late 19th or early 20th-century two-light casements, and there are two more similar casements on the first floor. There is a roofless outbuilding attached to the left end of the farmhouse, which has been deteriorating since 1987 and lacks any internal features. The interior has not been inspected.
