Bolventer School and Walls to Front

Bolventor School, built in 1878, features snecked local stone with granite dressings and some slate hanging. The school has a slate roof with gable ends and pierced crested ridge tiles. A prominent lateral stack made of snecked stone is located at the front, with stepped weathering and an octagonal shaft.

The building has a roughly rectangular plan, with an entrance through a 19th-century porch on the right leading into the school room, which is heated by the front lateral stack. There is a small outshut on the left side and 19th and 20th-century extensions at the rear. The school is designed in a Gothic style.

The exterior consists of a single-storey school room with a steeply pitched roof and a lateral stack near the center of the front elevation. The entrance porch, located on the front right, also has a steeply pitched roof and features an asymmetrically placed 4-centred chamfered arch entrance with ornate 19th-century wrought-iron hinges on the plank door, along with a mullion and transom window to the right. The gable end is decorated with timber studding and deep barge boards that have a central pendant finial. The central chimney stack is dressed with granite and includes a date plaque. To the left, there is a 3-light mullion and transom window, with the outshut to the left featuring a 4-centred arched opening for a 19th-century door on the right side. High stone rubble walls enclose the playground in front of the school. The interior has not been inspected.
