4/23 Cottage at approx 75m west of Trelissick House

GV II

Estate cottage. Circa 1840's extended circa 1970's. Slatestone rubble with granite sills, corbels and lintels. Dry Delabole slate roofs with brick chimneys over gable ends. Projecting eaves and verges carried on 2 projecting courses of slatestone. Originally 3-room L-shaped plan plus outshut in angle, later extended to rear (north) in similar style by The National Trust. 2 storeys. 2-window south front. Wider ground 3-light floor windows to first floor, in half-dormers with pediments to gables. Chimneys have cogged cornices. To right is corbelled quoin to carry roof linking cottage to farm buildings with similar corbel. Interior not inspected. This cottage is one of five on the Trelissick estate built with similar detailing.
