Description

Nanskerris is a cottage, formerly used as a gamekeeper's residence on the Trevarno estate, dating from the late 19th century, with a datestone of 1882. It is constructed from granite and killas rubble, with dressed granite quoins, jambstones, sills, and lintels. The roof is of dry Delabole slate with crested clay ridge tiles. Brick chimneys are situated on the gable ends, and shaped wooden bargeboards decorate the gables of the front part, including the porch.

The plan consists of two small, parallel ranges with parallel roofs, the front range being wider and containing two equal front rooms, likely with a cross passage between them, leading to two rear rooms. The cottage is single-storied. The east front is symmetrical, featuring two windows and a central, gable-ended porch. The porch has a shouldered-arched-headed doorway, and paired two-pane, horned sashes are positioned on either side, set within chamfered granite openings. A ledged top-glazed door completes the front elevation. The interior was not inspected. Nanskerris is a well-preserved and well-detailed late 19th-century estate cottage.
