Description

Pixie's Hall is a house dating from the late 18th century. It features painted rubble and cob walls, with a wheat reed thatched roof and brick chimneys at the gable ends. The layout consists of a two-room plan, with a kitchen living room on the left and a parlour on the right; the former cross passage partitions were removed in the 20th century. There is a single-storey extension added in the 20th century on the left and a 20th-century back porch on the right. The building is nearly symmetrical with a two-window south front, where the doorway is centrally located relative to the windows, all of which are grouped towards the right. The south front includes a large glazed porch, a 20th-century glazed door, and 20th-century windows in deepened ground floor openings, while the first floor retains older 20th-century two-light casements in unaltered openings. Inside, the ground floor has exposed beams and is said to have the original roof structure. Notably, this is the only house in the parish that is still thatched.
