Description
Coppathorne Cottage is a house dating from the 18th century, with some remodelling and a rear addition from the early 19th century. The exterior is colourwashed and plastered, featuring a thatched roof made of wheat reed with gabled ends and brick chimneys at the gable ends. The rear addition has a gabled slate roof and creates a double depth plan; the original thatched section may have consisted of two rooms with a through passage. The current entrance is located at the rear. The front of the house is symmetrical with two windows. On the ground floor, the windows have shutters; the left and right windows are early 20th century horned sashes with glazing bars and exposed sash boxes. A wide fixed window in the centre may have replaced the former front entrance. The thatch is eyebrowed over two first floor gabled half dormers, which contain 16-pane early 20th century horned timber sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
