Description

Newmill House is a house dating from the early 19th century, possibly with an earlier core. It has a whitewashed and rendered exterior with a bitumen-painted slate roof and brick chimneys. The building consists of one range with gabled ends, and an adjoining range that is slightly set back with a hipped roof at the right end. There is also a two-storey lean-to at the right end. The house is two storeys high and features a symmetrical front with three windows on each side. The windows are designed in the Gothick style.

The front of the gable-ended range has a half-glazed front door with glazing bars. The ground floor windows are two-light Gothick windows set in square-headed openings, each with six panes per light and intersecting glazing bars in the pointed heads. On the first floor, there are three pointed Gothick two-light casements with a high transom, featuring four panes to each light below the transom and pointed glazing bars above. The hipped range has one first floor and one ground floor window that are similar to the ground floor windows of the gabled range. The two-storey lean-to has two first floor windows that match those in the gabled range, along with an additional entrance on the front leading into the lean-to.

Inside, the gabled range includes early 19th-century fireplaces, panelled shutters, and six-panel doors. There is also a curved staircase located at the rear of the middle room.
