Description

GRADE-RUAN RUAN MAJOR SW 71 NW 6/50 Ruan Major Farmhouse GV II Originally rectory, now farmhouse, circa C17, altered in C19 and eaves and ridge heightened in C20 to rear. Rubble stone with some granite dressings. Patent tiled roof (was thatched). 2 brick stacks in front south slope at gable ends. 2 storeys, asymmetrical. 4 window front. Ground floor with two 2-light horizontal sliding sash windows to the left of the timber planked entrance door and a 3-light horizontal sliding sash window to the right. On the first floor, above the ground floor openings, from left to right, 1 triple 18-pane horizontal sliding sash window, two 2-light horizontal sliding sash windows and one 3-light casement window. All windows with glazing bars. Garage under asbestos slate roof on the left-hand gable. Large fireplace on right-hand side, with chamfered timber lintels and run-out stops. Small bread oven on right. Smaller fireplace on left-hand side with canted chamfered lintel. First floor not inspected.
