Description

Nanshuttal Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse located in St Just in Roseland. It features painted slatestone rubble walls and a dry Delabole slate roof with a stone rubble chimney on the left gable end and a hip on the right. The original layout consists of a two-room cross passage plan with a rear service wing, which was extended in the 19th century with a rear outshut. The building is two storeys high and has a five-window front facing northwest. The nearly central doorway is fitted with an original 12-panel oak door. To the left of the doorway, there is a wide opening with 20th-century wooden casements and two windows. To the right, there are tripartite sashes with glazing bars. The first floor features 16-panel hornless sashes in their original openings, and original ovolo moulded and stopped lintels are preserved above the first floor openings numbered 1, 2, and 5. The interior is reported to contain an original 17th-century stair, a 17th-century plaster ceiling, and two 17th-century doors.
