Description
Farmhouse. It likely dates from the 17th century, with significant remodelling in the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed of slatestone rubble with roofs covered in Delabole and scantle slates, featuring brick chimneys over the gable ends. It comprises a main rectangular block running north-east to south-west, a parlour wing to the south-east, a short wing to the rear upper end, and a lower service wing to the lower end, with 19th-century infill creating a space for the stair. The south-west front, with four windows, has a 20th-century glazed door set within a 19th-century altered opening. A hornless 20-pane sash window sits to the right, set within an opening altered in the 19th century, with straight joints on either side of the window. A similar hornless 20-pane sash is located to the left of the door. First-floor windows are hornless 12-pane sashes, set within openings also heightened in the 19th century. Shallow brick arches above the openings are 19th-century. The length of the lower end was reduced when the gable end was rebuilt in the 20th century. The parlour wing features a 20-pane sash on the ground floor and a 12-pane sash above. Interior features are largely from the 19th century. An 1895 photograph exists, rephotographed for the National Monuments Record.
