Description
No. 13 Fore Street is a house dating from around 1700, which was refashioned in the early 19th century. It features splatterdash render over stone rubble and possibly cob, with an asbestos slate roof and brick chimneys added in the 20th century at the gable ends. The house has a two-room layout with a rear stair turret and stands two storeys tall with a three-window front.
The nearly central entrance has a four-paned door that now includes glazed top panels and an overlight, framed by a porch supported by Tuscan columns and a modern lean-to roof. The flanking ground floor windows are lower and have four-pane wooden sashes with horns. Above these, there are twenty-paned hornless wooden sashes, along with a narrow twelve-pane wooden sash with horns positioned over the door. Originally, the house had a five-window front.
Inside, the property features a wide dog leg stair with a closed string, barleysugar balusters, and open newel posts.
