Description
No. 1 Kings Road is a house dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features a combination of timber framing with render and is faced in white brick, topped with 20th-century double Roman tiles and a wide eaves overhang.
The building stands two storeys high with attics and has a three-window range. There are three 16-pane sash windows in flush cased frames, with wide flat gauged arches; the middle window is a slightly smaller replacement. On the ground floor, there are two Edwardian canted three-light bay windows, each with sash windows that have a single vertical glazing-bar in the centre light. A single dormer on the front slope of the roof has a segmental lead-covered roof and a two-light four-paned casement window. The central entrance door is set back in a wooden doorcase with panelled reveals, plain pilasters, and a flat cornice hood.
Inside, there are no visible earlier features. A small cellar is lined with brick and flint. A winder stair with stick balusters leads up to the attic storey and features an unusually well-made curved handrail.
