Description

SW 94 SW TREGONY FORE STREET (north-west side) TREGONY 5/89 The Old Town Hall No. 57 (Clock Tower Antiques) 30-5-67 GV II

House with shop, said to be formerly Town Hall. Late C18. Slatestone rubble with granite dressings and hipped Delabole slate roof. U-shaped plan with integral service wings extending U at lower level. Stair well between wings. 2 storeys, 3 bay front. Central bay broken forward with low pitched gable and later shaped barge boards. Granite ashlar plinth and rusticated quoins. Central 4-panel door with blocked sidelights with granite sills, inner jambs and keyed lintel. Venetian window over with 12-paned wooden sash with fanlight and blocked sidelights. Each flanking bay has C19 wooden 20-pane shop window with keyed granite lintel and tripartite firsst floor window with small paned sashes and painted wooden mullions and lintels. Ground floor ones were probably similar originally. Brick chimney over side wall to right. Interior has open tread, open well, stick baluster stair with ramped handrail and original ceiling cornices. 4 granite steps to main door flanked by wrought iron railings.
