Description
A shop and attached living accommodation dating to the early 19th century, situated on the Penzance Road in St Buryan. The building is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings, and has a scantle slate roof covered in granite slates, with brick chimneys on the gable ends. It features cast-iron gutters in an ogee shape. The building’s plan is of a shallow double depth, with a room at either end of the front. The shop occupies the left-hand side of the middle section and has a central entrance. To the right of the shop entrance is a hallway leading to the house. The two-storey front has an overall width of three window bays. There are two ground-floor windows at each end. The shopfront on the left side includes simple pilasters above the sill level and a simple entablature over the shop door, shop windows, and house windows, all dating to before the late 19th century. The shop windows have fixed, four-pane glass, while the house windows have four-pane, horned sash windows. A 20th-century ledged door provides access to the house, located to the right of the middle section, and both doors have overlights. The interior has not been inspected.
