Description

Belmont House is a house with an integral cottage that was once used as an inn. It dates from the 18th century and was extended around the early 19th century. The front part from the 18th century features dressed granite, while the rest of the building is constructed from granite rubble with granite dressings. The roof is mainly covered with asbestos slate, except for the front wing, which has a scantle slate roof. There is a brick chimney on the left gable and a tall dressed granite chimney on the right gable end.

The building has an overall L-shaped plan, consisting of a long rectangular range and a single-storey, one-room wing that projects at right angles from the front of the right side. The original layout was likely a two-room plan house on the right, which was remodeled in the 19th century. During this time, the house was extended on the left, creating a new entrance with a chamber above and a self-contained one-room cottage on the far left.

The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical four-window east front. The doorway to the house is located in the middle, while the doorway to the cottage is towards the left. Both doorways feature 20th-century doors, and the windows are 20th-century horned sashes with glazing bars. There is also a 20th-century bay window on the ground floor to the left of the cottage. A lower gable-ended wing is situated in front of the right-hand side. The interior has not been inspected.
