Description
No. 21 Lower Lux Street is a shop with accommodation above, dating from the mid to late 19th century. The front features incised render on studwork set between rubble piers that support the end walls. It has a dry Delabole slate roof with projecting eaves and a moulded cornice on the soffit. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a two-window range.
The late 19th-century windows are four-pane horned sashes, framed by moulded wooden architraves. The ground floor has a granite ashlar plinth and a two-light double shop front located to the left of the center, flanked by engaged columns. There is a central doorway with an overlight, and the shop front features carved consoles supporting a moulded fascia and a projecting cornice.
On the right side, there is a segmentally-headed two-light window with round-arched lights, containing two-pane hornless sashes, also flanked by engaged columns. This window is set within a rusticated stucco frame that includes an impost string, a carved console acting as a keyblock, and a moulded cornice. To the left, there is a round-headed doorway with an impost string, linked to a transom under a plain fanlight. The door is also present. The interior has not been inspected.
