Description

Castle House is an early 19th-century town house located on Castle Lane, Liskeard. The building is constructed of painted rubble walls with a bitumen-painted rag slate roof, featuring mid-to-late 19th-century crested clay ridge tiles. A brick end stack is present on the right side. The house has a double-depth plan and a symmetrical three-window facade. It features shallow segmental arches with keyed details above the original 16-pane hornless sash windows. A central doorway is plastered and features a moulded entablature, with an original four-panel door flanked by late 19th-century canted bays. These bays have polygonal slate roofs and 4-pane horned sashes with sidelights. A blocked doorway is found at the far left of the front. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to contain features of interest. This building possesses group value from its contribution to the historic streetscape.
