Description

A pair of houses, possibly dating from the late 18th century, originally a bake house, located on Chapel Terrace in St Just in Roseland. The ground floor is painted brick, while the upper levels are clad in slate. The roof is half-hipped, covered with asbestos slate, and features painted brick chimneys positioned over splayed external rubble breasts on the side walls. The houses have a two-room layout, double-depth plans, and two storeys over a basement, with an attic space. Both the north and south fronts have two windows and feature paired wooden box porches with console brackets. The north front retains original 16-pane, two-light casement windows, with slate sills. Later raking roof dormers have been added. The interior of Treblok remains largely unchanged, exhibiting delicate ovolo mouldings to the ground floor beams, original floors, and the original roof structure featuring pegged truss apexes and nailed collars. Numerous original two-panel doors are also present. A substantial brick domed oven remains in the basement.
