Description
Tredellans Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse located in St Just in Roseland. It features painted slatestone rubble and cob walls with an asbestos slate roof, which was originally thatched, and brick chimneys at the gable ends. The building was originally designed with a two or three-room layout and a through passage plan, later having a rear outshut and an extension to the left in the 19th century. The room on the right is wider and deeper.
The farmhouse is two storeys high with an irregular south front that has four windows. There is an off-centre doorway to the left with a 20th-century top glazed door. To the left of this door is an old 16-pane sash window, which is part of what was originally a single wide opening for the hall window. There is a small opening to the right of the door that appears to be an insertion, and an old 20-pane sash window to the right. The first floor features various sashes with glazing bars. The rear outshut has dove holes in the east wall.
Inside, there is a large partly blocked chimney breast, with one chimney at the east end that has a late 18th-century Adam style fireplace surround. The west kitchen contains a 19th-century cast iron range. The hall ceiling retains its original features, including chamfered and stopped oak or elm beams. There is further evidence of the 17th-century date in the form of a panelled and shallow carved screen that forms the side of the stair, along with a two-panel door that has scratch moulded stiles and rails leading to a blocked rear doorway in the hall.
