Description
Penperth Farmhouse is a small farmhouse dating from the 17th century. It features painted slatestone and cob walls, with an asbestos slate roof that was originally thatched, and stone chimneys at the gable ends. The layout consists of two rooms with a cross passage and a central stair plan, now modified by a small three-storey wing added to the rear, which may have replaced an original stair turret. The building is two storeys high with an irregular two-window south front. The ground floor windows are wider spaced, and there is a lean-to porch with a slate roof and a central doorway that is off-centre to the left. The first-floor windows were likely enlarged and the eaves raised in the late 19th or early 20th century, and all windows are four-pane, two-light casements. The left chimney breast is external and features a quadrant oven projection at the angle, while the right gable end has a buttress that may be original. The interior has not been inspected.
