Description
This is a 17th-century farmhouse located in Probus. It is constructed from shale rubble and granite, with a Delabole slate roof laid in diminishing courses, and features brick gable stacks. The original design was a three-room plan, later expanded with an outshut wing and a porch. The main front has three windows and a doorway positioned to the right of centre. The ground-floor windows are wide and have six panes, while the first-floor windows have sashes with geometric glazing. A two-storey half-hipped wing has a window where a doorway formerly existed, and is topped by a chamfered lintel. The entrance is now through a lean-to porch with rounded corners. A stone chimney on the right side of the wing's roof ridge is likely a 17th-century lateral stack for the main range. Inside, the porch contains a bread oven. The kitchen has a 19th-century iron Cornish range and an old sink, located under the wing. The west room has a roughly chamfered oak lintel over the hearth. Other interior features include 18th-century two-panelled doors, a dog-leg staircase, and pegged roof timbers, visible beneath a raised roof.
