Description

This building is a pair of cottages, now functioning as one house, located approximately 60 metres east of Brookside. It includes front garden walls, gate piers, and a gate. The cottages date from the late 18th century or early 19th century and feature painted rubble and cob walls with wooden lintels. The roof is a fairly steep slurried scantle slate with brick chimneys at the gable ends. Originally, there were two identical one-room-plan cottages with entrance lobbies in the middle. The left-hand cottage was extended in the 19th century with lean-tos at the rear and on the left side.

The exterior is two storeys high with a long, low, symmetrical south front that has four windows and a pair of doorways in the middle, although the right-hand doorway has been converted into a window. The original door is a four-panel design. The left side features original 12-pane horizontally-sliding sash windows, while the other side has eight later four-pane two-light casements. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to be little altered since the 20th century. The garden is rectangular, with granite rubble and earth walls. Aligned with the current doorway of the house is a gateway that has granite monolithic piers and a simple wrought-iron gate with small ball finials on the bars.
