Description
This building is a pair of cottages dating from around 1800, located on the east side of Nunthorpe Village. The left cottage has been raised by four brick courses in the late 20th century, and the two cottages are now combined into one. The structure is primarily made of brick, with coursed sandstone rubble at the rear of the left cottage. It features renewed clay pantile roofs with stone ridge and gable copings, and the ridge stacks have been rebuilt.
The building is a single storey with three windows. There is a renewed boarded door to the left of the right cottage, which has a projecting late 20th-century gabled timber porch that is in keeping with the style. A doorway at the left end has been blocked. The windows are renewed horizontal sash windows with glazing bars, set in reduced openings, with the window to the right of the door positioned under a gauged brick flat arch. The eaves are accentuated by three stepped courses of brick. Renewed raking dormers feature similar windows. The late 20th-century extensions on the left and right are not considered to be of special interest.
