Description

The gatepiers at the entrance to Poole Hospital, formerly known as Grey Towers House, date from around 1896. The gates are missing. The gatepiers are made of sandstone ashlar and consist of a pair of squat piers, each featuring a hollow-chamfered plinth, blind Geometric-style tracery-panelled shafts, a bracketed frieze and cornice, and ogee caps. There are also two smaller and similar outer piers that were intended for missing pedestrian gates. These gatepiers are included for their group value.
