Description

LUDGVAN LUDGVAN CHURCHTOWN SW 53 SW 8/58 Cottages west of Church of St Paul, - including front garden walls, gate piers and gates GV II House, now 3 cottages, including front garden walls and gate piers. Circa late C17 or early C18, remodelled and extended in the C19 or early C20. Granite rubble walls with granite dressings. Grouted scantle slate roof with tall rubble gable ends stacks and a brick axial stack over a cross wall towards the right. Plan: originally probably 2 rooms with cross passage between leading to rear stair tower. In the C19 or early C20 the house was divided into 3 houses and there was a 1-room plan addition built behind either end. The left hand end also has a cartshed and workshop addition. Exterior: 2 storeys. Overall regular 4 window south front. Porch with 2 doorways under second from left window (now blocked) and doorway at far right. 4-panel doors with glazed top panels. 4-pane horned sashes. Some altered openings. The windows and doors are probably the date of the conversion into 3 cottages (see plan description). Interiors: not inspected.
