Description

This-Ul-Du comprises two adjoining cottages dating from the late 18th century. The exterior has rendered and pebbledashed walls, a cemented plinth, pilasters, and a mid-floor band. The roof is steeply pitched, covered with scantle slate, and features a brick axial stack positioned over the cross party wall. Cast-iron ogee gutters and downpipes are also present.

The cottages are arranged in an L-shape. The left-hand cottage has a small room at the front entrance lobby and likely a shallow service room at the rear. The right-hand cottage features a larger front room, an entrance lobby with a doorway in the return wall, and possibly two small service rooms at the rear within an angled wing.

The exterior is characterized by an irregular three-window front, with two wider ground floor windows located closer together. A doorway on the far left retains an old door with two tall round-arched panels. The ground floor windows are 6-pane horned sashes, while the first-floor windows are hornless sashes with most of the glazing bars removed. The front is paved with cobblestones and has a granite kerb. These cottages are part of a group of 18th-century listed buildings on North Street.
