Description

Chy an Moir, and 1 and 2 Rhymney Villas, along with the walls to the front, is a house located in Marazion, dating from the late 19th century, with remodelling of an older structure. The property was subdivided in the late 20th or early 21st century. It features a stucco exterior and scantle slate roofs with projecting eaves and verges, as well as brick chimneys positioned axially and laterally.

The building has a large U-shaped plan, with deep wings at right angles to either side of the front. There is a stair turret in the left inner angle and a 20th-century single-storey extension at the front, which fills part of a cobbled courtyard.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a south front with a 1:3:1 bay arrangement. The middle bays are partly obscured by the 20th-century addition, while the projecting gable-ended wings on either side each feature a two-storey canted bay window. The left wing has reticulated stucco quoins and a hipped roof over stuccoed masonry windows, which include horned sashes, except for a casement replacement on the ground floor middle window. The right bay window is wooden, with moulded cornices above each window and horned sashes that include pointed traceried lights. Similar traceried sashes are present on the right (east) side wall. At the rear of the main range, there is an early 19th-century 16-pane sash window, and in the rear gable of the left wing, there is a 12-pane hornless sash window. The interior has not been inspected.
