Description
Cromer is a house that likely dates from the 17th century. It features a pebbledash front, which is probably built on a rubble base, and has a steep scantle slate roof with original gable ends that adjoin taller buildings on either side. There is an original dressed granite stack on the right, topped with a tall brick chimney. The house has a cast-iron ogee gutter.
The plan consists of two rooms with a cross or through passage between them. The exterior is two storeys high and has a slightly asymmetrical three-window south front, with a doorway located to the left of the center. The door is a 20th-century six-panel design with top glazing. The windows are likely from the late 19th or 20th century and feature horned sashes. The ground floor windows are canted bays with moulded cornices and shallow hipped lead roofs, comprising a two-light window with sidelights on the left and a single light with sidelights on the right.
The building is notably lower than the row of 18th-century houses to the right, indicating a significant change in scale from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. The interior has not been inspected.
