Description
The Glencross tomb, located approximately 15 metres south of the Church of St Martin in Liskeard, is a chest tomb and grave slab dating from 1826. It commemorates Mary, the widow of John Glencross, who died at the age of 81; William Glencross, who died in 185- at the age of 67; his widow Thomasine Margaret, who died in 1855 at the age of 72; Revd James Glencross, a Clerk, MA, and JP for Cornwall, who died in 1896 at the age of 80; his wife, Ann Armenell, who died in 1917 at the age of 92; and others. The tomb features tapered coursed rubble sides over a granite plinth, an incised granite lid, and an incised granite slab on the east side, all set within a granite plinth that once supported an iron fence. The tomb has a rectangular plan.
