Description

A group of five chest tombs and one headstone is located approximately 3-5 meters north of the Church of Saint Piran in Perranarworthal.

The chest tombs include: - A tomb from 1789 for John Lugg, who died at the age of 33, featuring an incised slate slab on a brick base. - A tomb from 1789 for Nicholas Lean, who died at 58, with an incised slate slab set at ground level. - A tomb from 1800 for John Henwood, which has an incised slate slab on a brick base. - A tomb from 1808 for John Lugg, featuring an incised slate slab on a granite ashlar base. - A tomb from 1839 for David Scott, who died at 66, with panelled granite sides, a coved cornice on a granite lid, and a small incised slate insert towards the west end.

All the chest tombs are rectangular in shape.

The headstone, dating from 1845, commemorates Jennifer Lugg, who died at 70. It is made of white limestone and is a monolith with a moulded border on the east face that encloses a panelled chest with a cornice. Above this is an obelisk-shaped panel that contains an incised inscription, all topped with a triangular pediment.
