Description

The Gluyas Monument, located approximately 18 metres south of the west end of the Church of Saint Sithney, is an 18th-century memorial dedicated to Ann Gluyas, who died in 1794 at the age of 65. It is made of dressed granite and features an incised slate insert on the east side. The monument includes an integral moulded buttress at the back and a triangular pediment at the top, which supports an inscribed slate plaque on the front. The slate inscription reads: "Ann, wife of William Gluyas, Merchant in Marazion," followed by the epitaph: "Snatched from this World tender Mother Wife to equal any other, But not too Good to die."
