Description
The Glasse Monument, located approximately 2 meters south-southeast of the Church of St. Mary, is an early 19th-century tomb made of limestone. It features a square plan and is designed in a Neo-classical style. The monument consists of a rectangular box with an inscription on an oval slab set in a recessed panel. Below the moulded cornice is a fluted frieze, and the top is domed with an antherion decoration. This monument commemorates Hannah and Anna, who died in 1802, and were the wife and daughter of George Henry Glasse, a noted scholar and antiquary, as well as the owner of Brent Lodge Park.
