Description

Pednavounder Cottage is a small house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of roughly coursed killas and granite with dressed granite sills and lintels, and has an asbestos slate roof with brick chimneys on the gable ends. The plan originally comprised two rooms with an entrance vestibule between them; a staircase is located behind the room on the right, and the left-hand room is slightly wider, likely serving as the original kitchen or living room. A small, single-storey outbuilding was added to the right in the 20th century. The east-facing (road-facing) front has three windows, arranged nearly symmetrically; a centrally positioned doorway has a 20th-century door. The windows are original 12-pane hornless sash windows. The interior was not inspected. The cottage is one of the few surviving small houses near this highway to remain in an unspoiled condition.
