Description

Avon is a house built around 1800, with window alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features rubble construction, rendered and lined out, topped with a slate roof and a brick gable end stack on the right. It has a double depth plan, consisting of two front rooms and a central entrance leading to a passage, with a stair located in the rear room to the right.

The house is three storeys high and has two windows on the front. The ground floor includes a central six-panelled fielded door set in a moulded frame, flanked by six-pane sashes on both sides, and is topped by a 19th-century cornice on consoles. The first floor has two six-pane sashes, while the second floor features two smaller six-pane sashes positioned under the eaves, all complemented by a moulded cornice.

Inside, the central passage on the ground floor showcases ovolo-moulded panelling and vertical panelling. There are two-panelled doors to the left and at the end, and a four-panelled door to the right. The left front room contains a 20th-century fireplace at the rear, with cupboards on either side featuring panelled and glazed doors with H hinges. The rear room to the right has a dog-leg stair with turned balusters and a moulded handrail. On the first floor, two rooms have been combined into one, with two two-panelled doors, cupboards in the end wall to the right with H hinges and drawers, and plain panelling on the front wall. The rear of the left room includes fielded panelled cupboards with butterfly hinges.
