Description
Pemberknowse Cottage is a house built around 1800, with later alterations and additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from sandstone and slatestone rubble, featuring brick dressings and an asbestos slate hipped roof, with the right side being slate-hung. The building has a double depth plan with the entrance located on the left side.
The cottage is two storeys high and has three windows. The first floor features 12-pane sash windows with cambered heads, while the ground floor has a door on the left with two vertical panels and a 20-pane sash window to the right. There is a lean-to structure attached to the left, which is single storey at the front and two storeys on the side due to the slope of the ground, with garage doors facing the front. On the left side, there is a 12-pane sash window on the first floor to the right and a rooflight. The right side has two 20th-century windows on the first floor.
The cottage is situated overlooking the foreshore at the rear, which adds significant townscape value to this elevation. The interior is not accessible.
