Description
The Congregational Church, located on Garrett Street in Cawsand, was built for a congregation formed in 1793. It underwent significant alterations in the late 19th century, which have obscured much of the original work. The church features a rendered exterior and a half-nipped slate roof. Its layout includes an auditorium with a deep west gallery and a Sunday school room below. On the north and south sides, there are two round-headed windows with nine panes each, topped with fanlights. The west front has a similar round-headed window, a round-headed doorway with double doors and a fanlight, and round-headed gallery lights on either side. Inside, the auditorium has a four-bay ceiled roof with a wall-plate. The west gallery is supported by a pier with a capital and features a screen with a geometric floral design. There is a late 19th-century organ located at the east end of the church.
